About Livebearer

Livebearers are popular freshwater aquarium fish best known for giving birth to free-swimming fry instead of laying eggs. This hobby group includes familiar fish such as guppies, mollies, platies, and swordtails, which are valued for their colour, activity, and ease of care.

🐠 Behavior & Temperament

Most common livebearers are active, social fish that work well in community aquariums. They usually occupy the top to middle areas of the tank, and males may chase one another or harass females when kept in the wrong ratios.

💡 Care Guide

Provide stable water quality, open swimming space, and a varied omnivorous diet that includes both plant and protein-based foods. Many livebearers do well in harder, more alkaline water than soft-water community species. Because they breed readily, species-specific stocking advice and male-to-female ratios should always be checked before purchase.
